LAHORE, Dec 15 (APP):A delegation of Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) alumni based in the United Kingdom (UK) and United States of America (USA) called on Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan at the Governor’s House here on Monday.
The delegation also comprised Deans Committee FJMU and was led by Vice Chancellor FJMU Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal.
The discussion centered on the latest advancements in medicine, significance of mental health, and the evolving role of artificial intelligence in the medical field.
Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan directed Vice Chancellor Khalid Masood Gondal to provide best health care facilities to patients at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital attached to the university. He said special attention should be paid to providing treatment facilities to poor and deserving patients.
He stressed the importance of extending medical services to rural areas in Punjab, ensuring healthcare access for all.
The Punjab Governor said that research is very important for development in this modern era and universities are the center of research. He further said that Fatima Jinnah Medical University is doing excellent work under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Gondal. He also appreciated the performance of FJMU in various fields.
On the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal said that Fatima Jinnah Medical University is among the top three medical universities of the country.
He informed the Governor Punjab that an annual international conference will be organized from December 17 to 19, 2025 in collaboration with Fatima Jinnah’s alumni organization FJMCAANA and FJMU-UK. The Vice Chancellor said that a record 45 workshops were organized before the annual international conference.
The delegation included Prof. Munza Iqbal, Principal Prof. Abdul Hameed, Dean Undergraduate Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, Registrar Prof. Muhammad Nadeem and Prof. Taskin Zehra. The alumni from the US were represented in the meeting by Dr. Fawzia Rana, Dr. Amna Buttar, while Dr. Warda Shafi represented the UK Alumni body.
