FAISALABAD, Dec 15 (APP): Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council and Secretary General International Tazeem-e-Haramain Sharifain Council Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi on Monday strongly condemned the tragic incident in Australia and said that Pakistan is itself a victim of terrorism.
Addressing a media talk along with Ulema-o-Mashaikh at Khatam-e-Nabuwwat Islamic Research Center Gol Masjid Ghulam Muhammad Abad, he said that any attempt to link the country with terrorist activities would fail as the entire nation stands in solidarity with the Australian people and firmly behind the Pakistan Armed Forces.
He said that oppression and injustice across the world are deeply alarming, just as Israel continues to spill the blood of innocent people in Palestine.
He said that India and other hostile forces are engaged in a false propaganda campaign to malign Pakistan by associating it with terrorism. Pakistan’s stand against terrorism is clear, firm and unambiguous, he added.
He reiterated Pakistan’s principled stance in support of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state and categorically said that Pakistan would never recognize Israel.
He said that anti-Islam and anti-Pakistan elements are spreading baseless allegations and propaganda to undermine the country while Pakistan’s success against India has become unbearable for its adversaries.
He said that certain circles are uneasy with religious awareness and concept of jihad, but the nation remains steadfast in its ideology and values.
He said that the entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with its Chief of Defense Forces Syed Asim Munir and Pak army, adding that five thousand scholars in Islamabad have unanimously expressed confidence in the military leadership.
Emphasizing national defense, Tahir Ashrafi said that defense of Pakistan is a collective responsibility. He urged the parliament to take practical steps to eliminate the interest-based system, terming it incompatible with justice and fairness.
He said that a strong army is imperative for a stable Islamic state and said that the nation is well aware of the conspiracies being hatched to weaken the armed forces.
He alleged that a fugitive group is running a relentless anti-army campaign on social media. However, the nation would foil all such designs, he added.
He said that the armed forces embrace martyrdom with honor, citing the pride of martyrs’ families as evidence of the unbreakable bond between the nation and the army.
He strongly criticized Fitna-e-Khawarij and said that the group is misleading young children. He said that the scholars and the state must jointly counter such elements.
“When PTI founder spoke on the issue of sanctity of Khatam-e-Nabuwwat, the religious scholars appreciated the stance, as there could be no disagreement on this matter,” he said.
The religious scholars would continue to stand alongside Pak army for defense and security of the country, he said. The protection of madaris and mosques must be ensured at all levels as these institutions are guardians of Pakistan’s ideological frontiers, he added.
