PM emphasises Daanish University to concentrate promoting technology, modern scientific disciplines

ISLAMABAD, Dec 15 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday while chairing the Daanish University Board of Trustees meeting emphasized that Daanish University would concentrate on promoting technology and modern scientific disciplines.
The meeting focused on the university’s development, future plans, and the establishment of an inclusive and world-class institution aimed at promoting modern education and technological advancements, a Prime Minister’s Office news release said.
The prime minister further directed that the university’s architecture should be designed in a simple yet dignified manner, reflecting its commitment to excellence.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the Chairman and members of the Board, extending his best wishes for their efforts. “Your endeavors will play a vital role in spreading the light of knowledge,” said the prime minister, highlighting the critical role of education in transforming the nation’s future.
The prime minister stressed the importance of appointing high-quality research faculty and staff. “A well-thought-out strategy should be devised to hire the best talent in research and teaching,” he said, underscoring the need for academic excellence.
To ensure the university’s construction meets the highest standards, the prime minister instructed that contractors with a proven reputation and relevant experience be pre-qualified.
The prime minister directed that special attention should be given to students from remote areas, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir to make higher education accessible to talented students from all corners of the country.
“Meritorious and deserving students from all regions should be given an opportunity to attend Daanish University,” he stated.
To raise awareness about the university, the PM also recommended a national outreach program in public schools across the country, ensuring that every student is aware of the opportunities available at Daanish University.
A briefing was provided during the meeting, outlining the ongoing work on the Daanish University project. Key updates included the establishment of the Daanish University Project Management Unit, the approval of the university’s charter by the Ministry of Law and Justice, and its pending submission to the Cabinet and Parliament for final approval.
The meeting also revealed plans to launch an outreach program nationwide to promote Daanish University, with the establishment of a Centre of Excellence that aligns with modern academic demands. Additionally, training camps will be set up across the country to support deserving students with the university’s admission process.
In terms of academic vision, the prime minister highlighted that internationally renowned education experts have already been contacted to guide the university’s academic development and structure.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Federal Minister for Education and Vocational Training Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahsan Khan Cheema, along with the Chairman and members of the Daanish University Board of Trustees, and senior government officials.
