CHINIOT, Dec 15 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority’s (PFA) teams on Monday arrested 96 people for violating food Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for safe food across the district.
Inspections were conducted and a total of Rs 55,000 in fines were imposed for violations of the rules, the authority’s spokesman said.
Action was taken against meat shops and sweets and bakers units due to extremely poor cleaning and storage arrangements and infestation of vermin.
Deputy Director Operations Dr. Muhammad Qasim Raza said that prohibited ingredients, banned China salt and expired products recovered from grocery stores during the inspection were recovered and destroyed.
