PESHAWAR, Dec 15 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Kohat Rahimullah Mehsud on Monday visited the Tribal Sub Division (TSD) Darra Adam Khel to review the field arrangements on the first day of the nationwide polio eradication campaign that began on December 15.
During a visit to Akhurwal, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the performance of polio teams and reviewed the overall operational arrangements.
He issued clear directives to ensure that no child under the age of five is left unvaccinated.
Mehsud urged the parents and guardians to ensure that all children below five years of age receive polio drops, warning that the polio virus was still present in parts of the country. Even a single unvaccinated child, he said, remained at serious risk and could contribute to the spread of the disease.
Public cooperation, he added, was essential for the complete eradication of polio.
He also directed the polio teams to further strengthen monitoring and outreach to make the campaign more effective.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited the Basic Health Unit Akhurwal and the Government High School Akhurwal, where he reviewed the staff attendance, availability of medicines, healthcare and educational facilities and sanitation arrangements.
Mehsud directed the officials to ensure timely and quality healthcare services for the public and stressed that quality education, a fundamental right of every child, must remain a top priority.
He said improved health and education services were vital to enabling children to grow into responsible and productive citizens.
