ISLAMABAD, Dec 15 (APP): Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal on Monday chaired a meeting of the National Committee constituted to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar also attended the meeting, which held detailed deliberations on the proposed events to commemorate Allama Iqbal’s 150th birth anniversary, along with preparations for the 150th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in 2026, a news release said.
Addressing the meeting, Ahsan Iqbal announced that the year 2026 would be declared the “Year of Quaid-e-Azam,” adding that Quaid-e-Azam’s 150th birth anniversary would be celebrated at the national level in a befitting and dignified manner.
He said a sub-committee was being constituted to finalise the programme of events, which would submit its recommendations within five days.
The minister emphasised the need for a coordinated and well-structured strategy to ensure that the commemorative activities were meaningful, impactful and memorable.
Ahsan Iqbal said Quaid-e-Azam’s vision continued to provide comprehensive guidance for Pakistan, and that his principles of Unity, Faith and Discipline would be highlighted in an integrated manner throughout the celebrations.
He also announced that a high-quality drama series would be produced on the life of Quaid-e-Azam, focusing on his political struggle, leadership during the independence movement and his historic role in the creation of Pakistan.
The planning minister said that Quaid-e-Azam’s ideas remained a guiding light for contemporary Pakistan, adding that the Uraan Pakistan vision was firmly rooted in the founder’s ideals and aspirations for the country.
He stressed that the planned programmes should go beyond ceremonial observances and carry strong intellectual, educational and cultural content, enabling the younger generation to draw inspiration and practical guidance from the lives and teachings of Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam.
