Agro dept recommends high-yield tomato varieties

SIALKOT, Dec 12 (APP):The Agriculture Department on Friday advised farmers to cultivate Salar F1,Sahel F1 and Naqeeb tomato varieties to boost production.

According to a spokesperson,Zeeshan Goraiya,Agriculture Officer at Sambriyal,said that these varieties were suitable for both tall and short-to-medium height cultivation.

He added that recent trials show hybrid tomatoes perform best under local farming conditions.

Goraiya further said that Salar F1 can yield up to 72 tons per acre,Sahel F1,a tall imported variety,produces large, heart-shaped fruits and Naqeeb,a short-height variety,yields 21–25 tons per acre.

The department urged farmers to adopt these high-yield varieties to enhance tomato production in the region.
