ISLAMABAD, Dec 11 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have issued eight key safety precautions for citizens to help protect their motorcycles from theft and reduce related crime in the federal capital.
An ICT Police spokesperson told APP on Thursday that negligence in basic security measures creates easy opportunities for thieves, while simple precautions can significantly reduce the risk.
Citizens have also been advised to keep a record of their motorcycle’s details—including engine number, chassis number, registration copy, and recent photographs—to assist police in case of theft.
Following safety precautions for Motorcycle owners are:
1. Always park your motorcycle in a designated parking stand; 2. Use a strong double lock to secure the motorcycle;
3. Park inside your home whenever possible, not on the street; 4. Install a fuel switch / fuel cut-off system for added security; 5. Keep your motorcycle within your direct line of sight when parked outside; 6. Park under CCTV cameras or in visible, well-monitored areas; 7. Stay alert for suspicious individuals when parking or leaving your motorcycle; 8. At night, park in well-lit areas. Dark, isolated locations and weak locks make motorcycles easy targets.
The spokesperson added that poorly lit places, deserted streets, and careless parking habits provide ideal conditions for motorcycle thieves.
ICT Police urged citizens to remain vigilant and adopt these preventive measures to safeguard their property.
Motorcycle owners are further advised to immediately report any theft or suspicious activity to Police Helpline ‘15’.
