RAWALPINDI, Dec 09 (APP): The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Tuesday halted unauthorised construction activity in the Hawks Melbourne Housing Scheme at Moza Garhabartha on Chak Beli Khan Road, following a joint inspection by its enforcement wing.
According to the RDA spokesman, the action was taken on the directions of the Director General of RDA, Kinza Murtaza, after reports of illegal construction in a designated construction-free zone. The RDA Enforcement Squad, accompanied by the Assistant Commissioner Cantt and officials from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), conducted a detailed site inspection and identified violations of RDA regulations.
An application has been submitted to the Station House Officer of Police Station Rawat for registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against the Chief Executive Officer and other officials of the housing scheme for alleged violations of the Letter of Permission (LoP) and for illegal advertising for the sale and purchase of plots.
The enforcement team directed developers and contractors to cease work, remove heavy machinery and comply with regulations without delay.
In a statement, DG RDA said the authority would not tolerate illegal or unauthorised development, particularly in sensitive areas identified by regulatory bodies. She said that strict enforcement would continue to protect the public interest, uphold planning discipline, and curb fraudulent development practices.
The DG RDA advised citizens to avoid investing in unauthorised housing schemes and to verify the legal status of projects through official platforms before making financial commitments.
Kinza also directed the Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate to take strict action against all illegal housing schemes, unauthorised commercial activities, booking offices and encroachments, without fear or favour.
