RAWALPINDI, Dec 09 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Tuesday carried out a major operation against milk adulteration in Rawalpindi, sealing multiple shops and destroying over 1,000 litres of contaminated milk, a PFA spokesman said.
During raids across city areas including Holy Family Road, Murree Road, Sadiqabad and Adyala Road, and Gujar Khan, 20 milk shops were closed on the spot after samples failed quality tests, the spokesman added.
Laboratory analysis revealed adulteration with powdered milk, salt and water, posing serious health risks to consumers. Authorities also imposed fines totaling Rs434,000 on the shopkeepers for violating food safety regulations.
The spokesman said milk shop sampling had been intensified across the province to improve quality and curb adulteration. Citizens were urged to report any suspicious activity or complaints via helpline 1223 for timely action against offenders.
