Ayaz calls for national unity to tackle water scarcity

ISLAMABAD, Dec 09 (APP):Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Tuesday said water scarcity has emerged as one of the most serious national issues, demanding urgent and coordinated action from all stakeholders.
During the meeting with Chairman Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Lieutenant General (R) Muhammad Saeed here, he underscored the need for national unity, collaborative policy-making and a shared commitment to sustainable solutions.
The meeting was attended by Members of the National Assembly and senior officials from the Ministry of Water Resources, said a news release.
Ayaz Sadiqa said that, given the sensitivity and national significance of the matter, opposition members were also specially invited to ensure that a comprehensive strategy could be shaped through inclusive and collective input.
The Speaker stressed that Pakistan’s long-term stability and prosperity depend on safeguarding its water resources and effectively addressing food security concerns.
“The path to resolving national challenges lies in inclusive dialogue and joint decision-making,” he said.
During the meeting, Muhammad Saeed delivered an extensive briefing on the country’s water situation, including existing reservoirs, current and upcoming development projects, and future resource requirements.
The Speaker reiterated that Parliament will continue to support all efforts aimed at ensuring water security and strengthening the nation’s resilience against food shortages.
