ISLAMABAD, Sep 7 (APP):Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Friday rejecting the demand of Chief of Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam (JUI-F) Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman for ECP’s resignation, termed the statement as irresponsible.
In a statement, the commission strongly condemned his statement and said that it was against the facts and without any proof. It added general elections 2018 were held in a fair, free and transparent manner.
It said that people had participated in election process in a free atmosphere. It added disregard of public mandate without any reason is against the basic principles of democracy and such objections were based on personal benefit and without any reason.
The commission made it clear that election tribunals were constituted with appointment of 20 serving Judges of High Courts to resolve election disputes.
It said that if any candidate has any complaint then election petitions could be filed under the law. It said that the culture of raising pressure by leveling false allegations on national institutions should be stopped and that the ECP will not accept any such pressure.
