FAISALABAD, Dec 08 (APP): Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) has celebrated its Foundation Day with traditional enthusiasm.
In this connection, a cake-cutting ceremony was held at Vice Chancellor’s Office where special prayers were offered for the institution’s continued progress, prosperity, and academic excellence.
GCUF Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, faculty members, deans, directors, and the university’s distinguished alumni were also present on the occasion.
Joining the participants in cutting the cake, the Vice Chancellor congratulated the GCUF community on the Foundation Day and paid tribute to the institution’s remarkable historical journey. He said that established in 1897 as a primary school, the institution has transformed into a globally recognized university known for its academic and research achievements. Since its inception, December 08 has been observed annually as a day of renewal and commitment, he added.
In his address, Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam highlighted that GCUF ranks second in Pakistan and first across Punjab, reflecting its strong national and international standing. He reviewed progress on strengthening the alumni network and the establishment of the Alumni Endowment Fund.
The Vice Chancellor acknowledged the outstanding contributions of GCUF alumni in diverse fields, noting that their achievements have significantly elevated the institution’s reputation. He announced that a special ceremony will soon be held to honor their services.
Alumni representatives, while addressing the gathering, expressed deep emotional attachment to the university, describing it as their home where they spent some of the most memorable years of their academic lives.
They appreciated the leadership of Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, under whom the university continues to achieve new milestones.
The participants reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the university’s mission, emphasizing that GCUF embodies a glorious past, a strong present, and a promising future.
Graduates of the university are serving with distinction at national and international levels, further enhancing the institution’s stature worldwide.
