PESHAWAR, Dec 08 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly with Speaker Babar Salim Swati here Monday expressed deep concern, anger, and grief over the brutal incident of the abduction and murder of Dr Wardah in Abbottabad.
Lawmakers termed the incident a major question mark on the performance of security institutions, demanding the immediate arrest of the perpetrators, transparent investigations, and strict action against those responsible.
After the recitation of the Holy Quran and the national anthem, MPA Iftikhar raised a point of objection, stating that the broad-daylight abduction and murder of Dr Wardah in Abbottabad was a tragic incident and demanded arrest of killers.
He stressed the need for the immediate arrest of the culprits and bringing them to justice according to the law so that the affected family may receive justice.
Furthermore, he demanded that the investigation process be made transparent, impartial, and swift, and strict action be taken against those who displayed negligence.
PML-N member Amna Sardar said that the murder of Dr Wardah was a slap in the face of society and the KP government. A woman was abducted in public and killed the same day, which happened due to the incompetence of the police. She said that although video footage had surfaced in the early stages, the police showed negligence. She urged the IG to take notice.
MPA Rajab Ali said that strict action must be taken against those who create an atmosphere of terror and fear in society.
He said that the incident has caused fear within the doctor community and called for security arrangements to be made for doctors. He added that this incident has created a negative situation for other women as well.
Muneer Laghmani said that Dr Wardah was temporarily residing in Abbottabad for her service duties. He stated that unless the criminals are given the harshest punishments, it is impossible to end such crimes.
He demanded that an investigative committee composed of impartial individuals be formed. He added that although the police had arrested some people, the investigative system is weak and proper police training is essential.
The Speaker said that this was a heart-wrenching incident. He said he had spoken with the DIG Hazara, who informed him that three individuals had been arrested and that the police were working diligently.
The Speaker said that the DIG Hazara would be summoned for a briefing, and if any negligence was found at any stage, strict disciplinary action would be taken.
