HYDERABAD, Dec 08 (APP): A one-day seminar titled “Artificial Intelligence for a Sustainable Environment” was organized by the university’s Institute of Environmental Engineering on Monday, December 8, at Mehran University.
Addressing the seminar, Dr Erik Neilsen, a researcher from the University of Trento, Italy, said that the fundamental question is whether artificial intelligence is trustworthy or not? Does artificial intelligence provide the best solution? If not, then how can the solutions it suggests be trusted?
He said that artificial intelligence can be trustworthy and has the ability to suggest the best solutions to problems and dilemmas, however, it cannot be completely trusted in sensitive areas such as medicine, finance, robotics and decision-making. Dr Erik Neilsen added that artificial intelligence also explains problems and provides understanding about them.
On this occasion, Dr Abdul Razak Sahetu, Director of the Institute of Environmental Engineering, said that the discussion between the two researchers from Italy will be very useful for the students and teachers of Mehran University.
Dr Mir Hassan, who came from Italy, expressed his views on environment, artificial intelligence and sustainable development in the seminar.  A large number of teachers and students of Mehran University attended the event.
