MINSK, Dec 8 (BelTA/APP): Plans are in place to launch assembly production of Belarusian tractors in Vietnam in 2026, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich told Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Volfovich noted that the geographical distance between Vietnam and Belarus is not an obstacle to successful bilateral cooperation. “Vietnam and Belarus share common views on global order, assessments of the geopolitical situation, and evaluations of risks, challenges, and threats in the field of national security,” he said.

The state secretary added that the success of all collaborative endeavors with Vietnam is largely a result of the good, friendly relations between the leadership of Belarus, represented by President Aleksandr Lukashenko, and the leadership of Vietnam, represented by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam. The latter visited Belarus on an official visit in May, during which documents on strategic cooperation were signed, providing a further basis for deepening and expanding the partnership.

Aleksandr Volfovich explained that one of the discussed items was the deployment of assembly production for BELARUS tractors. “This matter is being worked on for 2026. Comrade To Lam assured that he is personally overseeing this issue and hopes that the assembly of our tractors in Vietnam will commence operation next year,” the state secretary added.

Furthermore, there is also talk of expanding the sales and assembly production of MAZ trucks. “We already have one distribution company engaged in supplying components, assembly, and selling MAZ vehicles. But, of course, these efforts need to be expanded and elevated to a higher level. As promised by our Vietnamese partners, we need to set up the assembly of right-hand drive MAZ trucks for sale to third countries,” he said.
