LAHORE, Dec 07 (APP): Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has stressed the importance of strengthening Pakistan’s armed forces, stating, “We have to make our army stronger and stronger.”
Speaking to a delegation of overseas Pakistanis from the United States at the Governor’s House, he condemned those spreading hatred against the army, calling them “enemies of the country and nation.”
The governor lauded Field Marshal Asim Munir for his leadership, noting that Pakistan’s global standing has significantly improved under his command. “Thanks to Field Marshal, Pakistan’s name has become famous all over the world,” Sardar Haider Khan said, adding that both he and the entire nation congratulate Munir on his appointment as Chief of Defense Forces.
He praised the leadership skills of both the government and the military, which, he stated, have earned the Pakistani passport and its citizens respect on the global stage. “Today, the world looks at the Pakistani passport and Pakistanis with great respect,” he noted.
The governor also remarked on the importance of a strong military for national progress, asserting that no matter how popular a political leader becomes, a country cannot move forward without a strong army. “If anyone thinks I am a popular political leader, they should prove their worth at the negotiating table,” he said.
He honored the contributions of overseas Pakistanis, describing them as patriotic individuals who combat conspiracies against Pakistan abroad. The Governor concluded by paying tribute to Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed and all martyrs of the Pakistan Army, marking the 54th anniversary of Major Sharif’s martyrdom.
