Hanif Abbasi lauds MG Motors for launching latest MG U9 vehicle in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Dec 7 (APP): Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi lauded MG Motors for expanding its investment footprint in Pakistan and introducing new vehicle models, including the latest MG U9. He said such developments reflect that the country is moving in the right direction economically.
Abbasi made these remarks while addressing the launch ceremony of the MG U9 and other models, where he attended as the chief guest. Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, the Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Tourism, was also present along with senior officials and industry representatives.
In his address, Abbasi said foreign and local investments in the auto sector are contributing to Pakistan’s economic growth and development. He highlighted ongoing progress across multiple sectors aimed at facilitating public.
“The strength of Pakistan can be judged by the performance of our armed forces in Marka-e-Haq, which earned global recognition for delivering a decisive victory,” he said. He added that the next major priority is to strengthen the economy by creating more opportunities for investors.
The minister pointed to significant growth in the textile sector in recent months, terming it a strong indicator of Pakistan’s potential to excel in global trade. He expressed optimism that more investments are expected in the coming years, opening new avenues of development.
“I am very clear about the country’s progress and development in the years ahead,” he remarked.
He also stressed the importance of national unity to counter hostile agendas, referring to Afghanistan’s historically unfriendly posture despite Pakistan’s support in difficult times.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan congratulated MG Motors for establishing six world-class outlets in Pakistan, calling it evidence of the country’s capacity to attract substantial investment.
He acknowledged Pakistan’s progress over the past five to six years and highlighted the rapid expansion of the electric vehicle (EV) market. He praised the government’s investor-friendly policies and shared details about the upcoming National Electric Vehicle Policy, which will mandate EV charging stations in newly constructed malls and buildings to support infrastructure growth and boost EV adoption.
He also commended MG Motors for introducing a high-performance vehicle capable of operating smoothly across all terrains, including the mountainous regions of Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. He said Pakistan offers a vast market for such vehicles, which can also help promote tourism especially in events such as the Cholistan Desert Rally.
