LAHORE, Dec 05 (APP): An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday extended the interim bail of several PTI leaders and workers in six cases related to the May 9 violence, including the torching of the PML-N office and a container at Kalma Chowk.
Judge Arshad Javed conducted the hearing on the bail petitions filed by PTI leaders and party workers. The court granted an extension in their interim bail until January 16.
The accused appeared before the court as their previous bail period expired. Those in attendance included Azam Khan Swati, Hafiz Farhat Abbas, Karamat Khokhar, Hafiz Zeeshan and others. Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, sisters of PTI founder, also appeared before the court.
A number of PTI leaders, including Azam Khan Swati, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema, Musarrat Jamshed Cheema, Hafiz Farhat Abbas, Bilal Ejaz, Rai Hassan Nawaz, Ali Imtiaz Warraich, Muhammad Ahmed Chattha, Muhammad Ashraf Sohna, and Rai Murtaza Iqbal, have filed interim bail petitions in the cases.
Investigating officers from the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) had submitted their inquiry report, declaring all accused — including Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan — guilty.
