JEDDAH, Dec 3 (Xinhua/APP): The “China Film Night in Jeddah” was held on Wednesday evening in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, featuring a screening of the Chinese film The Lychee Road.
Co-hosted by the China Film Administration and the Chinese Consulate General in Jeddah, and organized by the China Film Archive and the Red Sea International Film Festival, the event drew over 200 attendees from various sectors in both China and Saudi Arabia.
Wang Qimin, Chinese consul general in Jeddah, expressed his hope that Chinese filmmakers would strengthen exchanges with Saudi filmmakers, and allow Saudi Arabia and the world to experience the charm of Chinese films, continuously advancing film cooperation between the two countries.
“The Chinese film market is open to filmmakers from around the world, and we encourage deeper collaboration between film industries in our two countries,” said Mao Yu, executive deputy director of the China Film Administration.
Zain Zedan, manager of the Red Sea Souk at the Red Sea International Film Festival, said that hosting “China Film Night in Jeddah” is very important. She emphasized the need to promote exchanges between Saudi Arabia and China to create more opportunities for filmmakers.
The “China Film Night in Jeddah” not only showcases outstanding Chinese films, but also provides an opportunity for Saudis to meet Chinese film professionals and better understand Chinese culture and art, said Ahmed Almulla, director of the Saudi Film Festival.
