RAWALPINDI, Dec 03 (APP): The Director General (DG) of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Kinza Murtaza Wednesday approved the establishment of a new RDA Hospital on Jhanda Chichi Road and directed that major urban facilities be shifted to the Ring Road corridor as part of a broader restructuring of the city’s development plan.
Presiding over a meeting, the DG said the new hospital would provide modern and accessible healthcare, ease the burden on existing medical facilities and ensure faster service delivery to residents.

The meeting further decided that wholesale fruit and vegetable markets, transport terminals, educational institutions and industrial units would be relocated to designated zones along Ring Road. According to the DG, the move is intended to reduce congestion, curb pollution, and relieve population pressure on the city’s densely built-up areas, while supporting balanced urban growth and improved land use.

Kinza instructed the Engineering Directorate, Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering Directorate, Estate Management Directorate and Land Development Directorate to identify suitable sites along the corridor. She added that all transport terminals would be moved to the entry and exit points of the Ring Road on G.T. Road and the Motorway to streamline intercity and intracity traffic.

She said major educational institutions would be shifted to purpose-built campuses with enhanced infrastructure, and that dedicated health zones would allow for the development of hospitals, pharmacies, diagnostic centres and laboratories, expanding healthcare access across Rawalpindi.

Director of Engineering Muhammad Anwar Baran, Director of Administration Iftikhar Ali, Director of Land Ghazanfar Ali Awan, Director of Estate Management Aabgeena, Director of Finance Dawood Khalid, Director MP &TE Atif Mahmood Chaudhry and other senior officers attended the meeting.
