RAWALPINDI, Dec 03 (APP): The Punjab Government on Wednesday launched a free hospitality training programme for hotel and restaurant staff in the hill station of Murree, aiming to elevate service standards and build a skilled local workforce.
Addressing a press conference at the Murree Press Club, TDCP Deputy General Manager (North) Moazam Nazir said the ‘Saliqamand Tourism Programme’ is a joint initiative of the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) and Kohsar University Murree. Representatives from the Punjab Tourism Squad and the University attended the event.
Moazam Nazir said the programme, initiated on the special directives of TDCP Managing Director Aasim Raza, would strengthen the hospitality sector and raise the quality of tourist services.
“The curriculum will feature two core modules; housekeeping and waiter training, to be conducted by professional instructors. Participants who complete the month-long course will receive official certification from the Punjab Government,” he said.
“A trained workforce will not only provide better facilities to tourists but will also promote the social and economic development of Murree’s tourism sector,” Mazhar Nazir added.
The course, he said, will run from December 10 at Kohsar University’s GPO campus. Classes will be held five days a week, from Monday to Friday, for 90 minutes daily, he said. He emphasized that the programme was entirely free of charge.
The TDCP and Kohsar University are mobilizing all necessary resources to ensure the success of the initiative, which is expected to enhance the region’s tourism industry and create a pool of skilled professionals, he added.
