ISLAMABAD, Dec 03 (APP):Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has emphasized that access to education, healthcare, skill development, and employment is the fundamental right of persons with disabilities.
In his message on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Chairman stressed that state institutions, private sector, and civil society must work collectively to provide a conducive environment for such persons.
He added that Parliament has consistently supported legislation and effective policies for the rights of persons with disabilities, and the Upper House remains committed to building an inclusive society.
Senator Gilani highlighted that accessible infrastructure, special education, skill development programmes, and quality healthcare services are essential for the empowerment of persons with disabilities. He also appreciated the efforts of national and international organizations working for their welfare and inclusion.
The Chairman Senate noted that persons with disabilities set remarkable examples of determination and success, becoming a source of pride for the entire nation. He said that society must prioritize its encouragement, support, and provision of opportunities so that they may fully harness their potential.
Concluding his message, he expressed hope that awareness campaigns and activities taking place across the country on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities would promote a positive understanding and help Pakistan move towards a more inclusive, equitable, and compassionate society.
