BISP launches wallet account drive for 200,000 beneficiaries in Sargodha

SARGODHA, Dec 03 (APP):The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Sargodha has launched the third phase of opening mobile wallet accounts for its beneficiaries in the Sargodha district, aiming to facilitate 200,000 women under the Prime Minister’s vision of a ‘Cashless Economy’.
This was stated by Deputy Director BISP Malik Safdar Awan while talking to APP on Wednesday.
He said that the initiative was being implemented in collaboration with three major telecom operators Ufone, Telenor, and Zong following the directives of the President of Pakistan, who is also the Chief Patron of the program.
Under this facility, wallet accounts are being opened for 200,000 registered beneficiaries in
the district,the deputy director BISP said.
He said these digital accounts would enable women to withdraw their stipends in a dignified manner from any telecom agent, additionally; the beneficiaries would be able to utilize these accounts for paying electricity bills and transferring funds.
Malik Safdar Awan said that the account opening drive commenced on Monday, and over 6,000 accounts successfully were opened within the first three days.
The wallet account campaign would continue for one month to complete the target of onboarding all 200,000 beneficiaries onto the digital platform, he added.
