First-ever national wildlife policy within this month: Amin Aslam

ISLAMABAD, Sep 5 (APP):Adviser to Prime Minister on Climate Change, Malik Amin Aslam Khan said the first ever National Wildlife Policy draft would be submitted to the federal cabinet for approval within this month. Chairing a meeting of wildlife and forest departments here at ministry of climate change, he said a comprehensive wildlife policy was the need of the hour to provide adequate protection to the wildlife habitats, said a press release.
He stressed upon the wildlife department for early completion of “National Consultation” on the policy document so that it could be submitted to the cabinet at the earliest.
Malik Amin Aslam Khan said the present government had decided to adopt a zero tolerance policy towards illegal trade and hunting of the wild life and directed its authorities to take all out efforts to preserve our precious wildlife.
“With the advent of winter season, birds migration starts in coastal areas and its our responsibility to provide an adequate protection to these birds which include Cranes, Falcons, Quails and other species of the migrated birds,” he said.
He said the first ever national wildlife policy would be amongst those milestones which Prime Minister Imran Khan had committed to achieve within first 100 days of the government.
Federal Secretary Climate Change Khizar Hayat Khan and senior officials from wildlife and forest department were also present in the meeting.
