DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Dec 02 (APP): Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur on Tuesday performed the groundbreaking of the University of Agriculture Dera Ismail Khan (UAD) building, marking a significant milestone in the university’s development and long-awaited infrastructure.
The university has been functioning for several years without its own dedicated campus, resulting in limited facilities for students. Addressing this longstanding issue, Gandapur announced the allocation of 400 kanals of land for the university’s new building and provided millions of rupees in development funds to strengthen the institution. He also handed over buses, coasters, and other vehicles to enhance transportation for students and faculty.
UAD Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shakeebullah expressed his gratitude and paid tribute to Gandapur for his support, stating that the university community highly values these contributions.
Speaking at the ceremony, Gandapur stressed that true educational progress depends on quality teaching rather than buildings alone. He assured that academic activities would continue smoothly during the construction period and highlighted that several departments have already graduated students, an achievement that demonstrates the success of UAD’s modern academic model.
He further announced the establishment of a Rs One billion endowment fund for emerging universities across the province. Under this initiative, ten universities will receive annual financial support to help them achieve long-term sustainability, improve facilities, and raise academic standards.
Vice Chancellor Dr Shakeebullah said the new campus would offer increased enrollment capacity, improved facilities, and modern learning resources, enabling students to excel nationally and internationally.
He added that the university is poised to secure a prominent position among the country’s leading educational institutions.
The groundbreaking ceremony is being hailed as a landmark moment for UAD, paving the way for future academic growth and strengthened higher education in the region.
