ISLAMABAD, Dec 02 (APP): Ali Akbar, newly appointed as the first Senior Superintendent of Prisons (SS Prison) for the Federal Prison of Pakistan, held a meeting with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi to review progress on the Islamabad Model Jail and discuss its early operationalization.

A police spokesperson told APP on Tuesday that significant progress has been made regarding the Islamabad Model Jail following the special directives issued by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. Ali Akbar’s appointment as the first SS Prison marks a major administrative step toward establishing the country’s first federal-level prison facility.
During the meeting, the IG Prisons and the IGP Islamabad issued directions to expedite all processes required to make the Model Jail functional at the earliest. They emphasized that duties must be performed with a reformative approach, keeping in mind the principle: “A saint has a past, and a sinner has a future.”
Once the federal jail becomes operational, all detainees and prisoners linked to Islamabad’s cases will be housed in the Islamabad Model Jail. With this development, there will be no further need to transfer Islamabad-related accused persons to prisons in other districts.
