CM calls for compassion, awareness on world AIDS Day

LAHORE, Dec 01 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that patients suffering from AIDS deserve compassion, not stigma or hatred, highlighting the need for collective action to address the social and economic challenges posed by the disease.
In her message on World AIDS Day, she underscored the importance of eliminating inequalities in access to prevention, testing, and treatment facilities and stressed that affected individuals should be supported to become productive members of society.
The chief minister lauded the efforts of community organisations actively working for AIDS prevention, treatment, and awareness. She reaffirmed the Punjab government’s commitment to integrating affected individuals into society and said effective measures are being implemented to achieve significant results in combating the disease.
CM Maryam Nawaz also highlighted that standard operating procedures for AIDS screening before dialysis are being strictly enforced across the province. She added that with early detection and available treatment, the lives of people affected by HIV/AIDS can be significantly improved.
