CM launches support package for special education

PESHAWAR, Dec 01 (APP): Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Monday visited the Special Education Complex in Peshawar. He formally launched the Ehsaas Umeed Programme for special children.
Sohail Afridi announced that ten thousand persons with severe disabilities will receive five thousand rupees per month. According to a briefing funds will be transferred directly to beneficiaries through biometric verification.
The briefing stated an amount of three hundred million rupees will be spent on the programme from January to June 2026. Selection of beneficiaries will be carried out under the Zakat Management Information System.
The Chief Minister handed over twenty three new vehicles for schools of special children. A total of three hundred seventy million rupees was spent on the purchase of transport vehicles. Two thousand electric wheelchairs twenty five hundred manual wheelchairs and eight hundred tricycles have been provided to persons with disabilities. A total of seven hundred sixty million rupees was spent on assistive devices and equipment.
The Chief Minister directed that the amount available in the Zakat Fund be immediately distributed among deserving persons. Sohail Afridi also ordered the provision of assistive devices to persons with disabilities in the merged districts.
The provincial government is taking all these steps through its own resources Sohail Afridi said. He stated more than three thousand billion rupees are outstanding against the federation and payable to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Sohail Afridi said transport facilities will also be provided to schools in the merged districts. The Chief Minister also directed that all missing facilities in schools for special children be provided immediately.
