MULTAN, Dec 01 (APP): Following recent directives from the Punjab government to take strict action against traffic violators, the City Traffic Police (CTP) in Multan issued 8,773 challans and collected Rs. 6.63 million in fines during a three-day crackdown from November 27 to 30, 2025.
The intensified operation focused on violations identified by the provincial government as key contributors to road accidents.
According to the performance report, 1,125 motorists were fined for driving without a license, resulting in penalties totaling Rs. 640,700. Another 456 challans, worth Rs. 139,200, were issued for non-standard number plates. Helmet violations were also a significant issue, with 1,339 motorcyclists fined a total of Rs. 2,678,000 for riding without helmets.
The crackdown went beyond routine ticketing, with 1,258 vehicles impounded and 954 drivers arrested. FIRs were registered for serious traffic breaches.
Traffic Police officials stated that the action is in line with the provincial government’s zero-tolerance policy and is aimed at instilling discipline on Multan’s roads. They added that similar enforcement drives will continue to ensure full compliance with traffic laws throughout the city.
