LAHORE, Dec 01 (APP): Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza on Monday undertook a detailed visit to Tehsil Allama Iqbal Town to review progress on the “Clean Lahore Mission” and the ongoing “Lahore Development Programme,” initiatives being carried forward on the special directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif to ensure the provision of high-quality municipal services to citizens.
Accompanied by the Chief Officer of the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL), Assistant Commissioner Allama Iqbal Town, and senior officials from WASA, LWMC, NESPAK and other relevant departments, the DC inspected various areas including Mansoorah Bazaar and Ittefaq Town. He reviewed cleanliness operations, solid waste management, sewerage conditions, and the pace of ongoing development schemes.
During the visit, Syed Musa Raza issued clear instructions for indiscriminate action against encroachments, visual pollution, and all forms of illegal or unsafe structures. He directed the departments concerned to immediately remove construction debris from streets and major roads, ensuring uninterrupted pedestrian and vehicular movement. He further ordered the demolition of all illegal and inactive structures without delay.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed that transparency, quality assurance, and strict monitoring are central to the Lahore Development Programme. He instructed NESPAK and allied institutions to maintain the highest engineering standards in all development projects and ensure third-party validation where required.
He also directed WASA to resolve sewerage and drainage issues on an urgent basis and to undertake emergency measures to improve the overall water disposal system. LWMC was instructed to strengthen waste collection mechanisms, improve neighbourhood-level cleanliness, and ensure zero tolerance for negligence in sanitation services.
The DC said that the district administration of Lahore is committed to providing citizens with the best municipal facilities, adding that there would be no compromise on the quality or transparency of public development works. He added that any lapse in cleanliness operations would be dealt with strictly, as the citywide improvement drive aims to deliver a visibly cleaner, safer, and more organised Lahore. He said the district administration is fully aligned with the Chief Minister’s vision of modernising municipal governance and upgrading civic services across the provincial capital.
