RAWALPINDI, Dec 01 (APP): The City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi have intensified a district-wide crackdown on traffic violations, issuing more than 13,400 challans in three days, a CTP spokesman said on Monday. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam personally monitored operations in the field to ensure uniform enforcement of the law.
The spokesman stated that over 4,500 motorcyclists riding without helmets were fined, 1,883 vehicles penalised for one-way violations, and 1,164 vehicles faced action for overloading. More than 928 vehicles emitting excessive smoke were also fined, and 21 government vehicles were penalised for contravening traffic regulations. During the period, 139 first information reports were registered for serious traffic offences, he added.
He said pamphlets were being distributed among citizens to raise awareness about traffic laws, while drone technology and Safe City cameras continued round-the-clock monitoring of the city’s roads.
CTO Farhan Aslam said the crackdown had resulted in a marked decrease in traffic violations. “The purpose of these operations is to protect the lives and property of citizens. We are conducting awareness campaigns across the district and implementing a zero-tolerance policy to prevent accidents and ensure safer travel,” he added.
