ISLAMABAD, Dec 01 (APP):Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Punjab Minister for Transport and Mass Transit Bilal Akbar Khan on Monday to discuss wide-ranging reforms in the transport sector, with a special focus on upgrading the Rawalpindi–Islamabad Metro Bus Service.
During the meeting, both sides held an in-depth discussion on measures to further improve the metro service, enhance operational efficiency, and upgrade station facilities.
Various proposals were reviewed to make the service more effective and commuter-friendly.
The two officials also considered extending the metro bus route to accommodate the growing number of daily passengers. “Thousands of commuters rely on the Rawalpindi–Islamabad Metro Bus Service every day,” Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said, emphasizing the need for continued improvement.
A key decision reached during the meeting was the formation of a joint coordination committee to oversee and facilitate planned upgrades to the metro system.
The discussion also highlighted the importance of promoting electric transport as a means of improving public convenience and reducing smog.
 Naqvi noted that Islamabad has, for the first time in its history, launched electric buses, with the fleet and routes gradually expanding to serve more residents.
Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan briefed the Interior Minister on recent initiatives undertaken to modernize and improve the transport sector in Punjab.
