RAWALPINDI, Dec 01 (APP):The Murree Traffic Police have launched a strict crackdown across the hill station to ensure full compliance with traffic regulations, in line with the Punjab chief minister’s vision of a “safe, accident-free Punjab”.
A spokesman for the Murree Traffic Police stated on Monday that action was being taken daily against motorists driving without a licence, motorcyclists riding without a helmet and individuals committing other violations. A zero-tolerance policy, he added, had been enforced, with offenders facing immediate challans and legal action on the spot.
He said the Traffic Police had made it clear that the law applied equally to all and no individual or group would be granted any concession. Protecting citizens remained the foremost priority, which was why a special drive against underage drivers and unlicensed motorists had been intensified.
The spokesman noted that, given the large influx of tourists in Murree, the Traffic Police were performing their duties with added vigilance to reduce accident rates and maintain smoother traffic flow.
He urged residents and tourists to take compliance with traffic rules as a shared responsibility. Using helmets, carrying complete vehicle documents and possessing a valid driving licence, he said, were essential for safeguarding not only one’s own life but also the lives of others. He added that improving the traffic system was not possible without public cooperation, as compliance with the law was both a moral and legal obligation.
