UET Taxila making strides to promote higher education in Asia : Punjab Governor

WAH CANTT, Dec 1 (APP):Punjab Governor, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan on Monday  said that the University of Engineering and Technology’s (UET) Taxila 106th position among Asia’s leading universities reflected the commitment of its faculty, administration, and the government toward strengthening higher education.
Addressing the 22nd Convocation of UET Taxila, the Governor—who also serves as the University’s Chancellor—said that the graduating engineers represented  “Pakistan’s bright future”.
He emphasized that in the modern era, particularly in fields of science and technology, learning must remain a continuous process,  adding “We often recall the achievements of Muslim scientists, but we have fallen behind in research. It is your responsibility to devote your abilities to advancing scientific inquiry,” he told the graduates.
The governor said that Pakistan had been blessed with immense natural resources, and self-reliance in science and technology was essential to fully tap the resources.
Announcing key initiatives,he said that a new campus of UET Taxila would soon be established in Jand, Attock, to expand access to quality engineering education for students from less-developed regions.
He also announced special quota seats for the university.
Speaking about institutional reforms, he noted that UET Lahore had been facing a severe financial crisis during the previous government, adding “We have steered the university out of that crisis and restored it to its previous standards”.
The governor assured that he would continue to serve the higher education sector to the best of his abilities
