BAHAWALPUR, Nov 30 (APP): On the recommendations of the Multan Electricity Company (MEPCO), more than 16,000 First Information Reports (FIRs) were registered in Bahawalpur Division over the past three months for electricity theft.
Official sources in MEPCO confirmed that the Divisional Implementation Committee, consisting of MEPCO officials, district management, and law enforcement agencies, made the decision to register FIRs against individuals involved in electricity theft. MEPCO teams, working in coordination with personnel from law enforcement agencies, detected numerous cases of electricity theft across various districts of Bahawalpur Division. As a result, over 16,000 FIRs have been filed against those found guilty of stealing electricity.
The sources further emphasized that legal proceedings are underway for all electricity theft cases in accordance with the law. MEPCO officials also noted that the campaign against electricity theft would remain ongoing to curb the practice and ensure proper compliance with regulations.
