Over 112,000 animals vaccinated as Punjab expands livestock support

MULTAN, Nov 29 (APP):The Punjab government’s three major livestock programmes were progressing in Multan,where over 112,000 animals have been vaccinated in 61 flood-affected villages,officials said.
According to a spokesperson,Deputy Director(DD)Livestock,Dr. Shehzad Ali said that the Livestock Asset Transfer Scheme for Rural Women,Punjab Livestock Card and Breed Improvement Programme were all underway.
He said 4,500 women in Multan have applied for the asset transfer scheme,which provides a large animal worth around Rs 200,000 through balloting. A poultry package will also be given in December for Rs.3,300.
Under the Livestock Card Scheme,interest-free loans of Rs 27,000 per animal were being provided,with 270 farmers registered so far.
Dr.Shehzad further said that 5,000 animals have been tagged under the breed improvement plan,with subsidized Brahman and Friesian semen being supplied.
He confirmed that vaccination drives and routine immunization continue,with no major poultry disease reported in the last two years.
