RAWALPINDI, Nov 28 (APP): Traffic policing in Murree has been intensified under the directives of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Punjab Waqas Nazir, with the first action taken against a government vehicle under the newly approved Punjab Traffic Ordinance.
According to the Murree Traffic Police spokesperson on Friday, the operation marked a strict enforcement of the ordinance, with a government vehicle challaned on the spot for violating traffic rules. Citizens welcomed the move, describing it as an impartial application of the law.
“One can see for the first time that traffic laws are being applied equally to everyone. Such strictness will certainly improve traffic management and reduce disorder,” a local resident said.
A visiting tourist noted that effective law enforcement would enhance convenience and safety for travellers, adding that traffic congestion would likely decrease.
“We fully support these measures and appreciate that the traffic police are acting without discrimination,” the tourist said.
The spokesperson reiterated that a zero-tolerance policy would be maintained for all traffic violations, emphasizing that the law applies equally to all. He added that ensuring safety, discipline and better travel facilities remained the top priority of the police.
He urged the citizens to follow traffic rules diligently to maintain a safe, smooth and organised traffic system for both residents and tourists visiting Murree.
