Sukkur Police issues its one year performance report

SUKKUR, Nov 28 (APP): Under the leadership of DIG Sukkur Range Capt (Retited) Faisal Abdullah Chachar, the Sukkur Range police on Friday have released its annual performance report covering November 2024 to November 2025. The report highlights achievements in operations against criminals in the kacha (riverine) area, crime-control meetings, weekly ‘ardali room’ sessions, maintenance of law and order, public welfare, accountability, police welfare, crime-scene units, complaint cells, IT initiatives, security and more.
According to the report, Sukkur Range police conducted 547 encounters in which 29 hardcore criminals were killed, 160 injured and 836 arrested. A total of 248 criminal gangs were neutralised and 24 wanted criminals in serious crimes surrendered after throwing weapons.
In murder cases, 414 proclaimed offenders and 425 absconders were arrested. Besides, 680 proclaimed offenders and 2,036 absconders were arrested in other cases.
Notable dacoit Shahnawaz alias Shahu, carrying a Rs 50 lakh reward, was killed with 8 accomplices. He was wanted in the killing of 12 youths in Rahim Yar Khan and DSP Abdul Malik Bhutto, Inspector Abdul Malik Kamangar, Inspector Din Muhammad Laghari, Constable Jatoi Pitafi and Constable Saleem Chachar in Ghotki. Another Rs 20 lakh reward-listed dacoit Sultan Shah was killed with his son Hubdar Shah, he was involved in more than 48 serious crimes.
Twenty-six A-Plus drug traffickers were arrested and charge-sheeted in 26 cases.
Police registered 1,329 narcotics cases and arrested 1,529 suspects. Seizures included 0.465 g heroin, 567 kg 15 g charas, 8,705 bottles / 8,738.55 L liquor, 1,150 kg 876 g bhang, 2 kg 118 g ice and 927 g opium. In addition, 8,543 kg 677 g gutka-mawa and mainpuri were recovered.
A total of 254 gambling cases were filed and 1,113 gamblers arrested and charge-sheeted.
Stolen property worth Rs 87,966,920 was recovered, including 683 motorcycles and 45 vehicles / cars, and handed back to owners.
Police registered 719 arms cases and arrested 673 persons. Items recovered included 53 Kalashnikovs, 33 shotguns, 20 rifles, 632 pistols/revolvers, 6 bombs/hand grenades and 16,253 rounds of ammunition. In Ghotki, a major arms smuggling gang was busted, recovering 1 machine gun, 1 M-20 R-75 gun, 2 mortar shells, 8 M-20 R-75 shells, 5 rocket-launcher shells, 1 12.7 mm chain belt, 2 SMG drum magazines and 1 motor scope.
Besides, forty six abductees were rescued without ransom and 1,776 persons saved from honey-traps and frauds. Currently, no kidnapped victim remains in Sukkur Range. Thirty four innocent children, separated from parents, were traced and returned.
During checks, 14,853 challans were issued for violations like illegal blue lights, fancy number plates, tinted glasses and wheel-spinning. Total fine of Rs 1,760,300 was deposited in the national treasury.
DIG Sukkur initiated internal accountability to improve law and order. A total of 86 officers/staff received major punishments (dismissal, compulsory retirement, demotion, two-year service termination) and 156 officers/staff received minor punishments (stoppage of annual increment up to 2 years, warnings, fines). Another 105 officers/staff were exonerated after departmental inquiries.
In recognition of good performance, 218 officers/staff from three districts were awarded CC certificates with cash rewards and 60 appreciation letters were issued. IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon awarded 69 officers/staff with CC certificates and cash rewards.
Regular weekly ardali room sessions were held and problems of 802 officers/staff were resolved.
Complaint cells at range and district levels received 7,790 public complaints (directly, PMDU, IGP-CMS, senior officers), of which 6,644 were resolved and 1,146 remain under process with senior supervision.
Fourteen next-of-kin of martyrs were given jobs under martyr quota. Separate welfare desks and WhatsApp groups were established for families of martyrs in Sukkur, Khairpur and Ghotki.
Police employees were provided Rs 39.520 249 million for immediate relief, retirement grants, marriage grants and medical charges. Financial assistance, group insurance, benevolent fund and scholarships worth Rs 375.850 million were also disbursed. Twelve pension and final payment cases were settled.
Kacha allowance of Rs 10,000 each was paid to 837 officers/staff for duties in riverine operations. Special investigation allowance equivalent to one basic pay was released to 26 officers. For the first time in Sindh police history, Rs 200,000 operational funds were allocated to each station. Head muharrirs were trained as accountants. An amount of Rs 51.072 million was released for investigation expenses.
Under IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon’s free medical treatment scheme, 1,063 officers/staff and their family members (3,577 individuals, total 4,640 beneficiaries) availed free treatment at designated hospitals in Sukkur, Ghotki and Khairpur.
Model Police Stations and Halting Points
Construction of model police stations at Thana Abad, Mirpur Mathelo and Shahid Murtaza Mirani, Khairpur has been completed. Work on stations at Rohri, Pano Aqil, Gambat and A Section Ghotki is underway. Seven halting points on highways in Khairpur and Ghotki have been completed, enhancing security for travellers.
To improve police functioning, various IT applications were focused on, including Police Station Record Management System (PSRMS), Point-Me, Hotel Eye Management System (HEMS) and Talaash Application. Through these, 11,437 cases were registered in PSRMS, 11,430 officers/staff attendance recorded, 18 wanted absconders arrested via HEMS and 156 criminals nabbed using Talaash devices.
A total of 276 officers/staff from ASI to constable ranks were promoted.
Under martyr quota, deceased quota, minority quota and general recruitment, 1,401 persons were hired from ASI to constable posts, 185 ASIs recruited through Sindh Public Service Commission and 1,421 candidates under PSD-I are under process.
Over 300 formal and informal inspections of SSP offices, SDPO offices, district headquarters and police stations in Sukkur, Khairpur and Ghotki were conducted.
In his message, DIG Sukkur said police should serve the public with honesty and courage. He warned strict action will be taken against anyone violating the law, irrespective of status.
