ISLAMABAD, Nov 28 (APP):The Senate has approved a motion to send the Journalists and Media Professionals Protection Bill 2025 to a joint sitting of Parliament.
The decision came during Friday’s session when Senator Saleem Mandviwalla presented the motion.
He informed the House that the Senate had already passed the bill and sent it to the National Assembly for approval. However, the lower house did not take up the bill within the 90-day period required for its passage.
Under parliamentary rules, such a bill can be referred to a joint session when the National Assembly fails to act within the given time.
After the motion was presented, the House voted in favor of sending the bill to the joint sitting for final approval. The bill seeks to provide a legal framework for the safety and rights of journalists and media professionals.
