EU, FAO conclude successful SRAS project in Sindh, Benefiting over 200,000 people

ISLAMABAD, Nov 28 (APP):The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the European Union (EU), in collaboration with the Government of Sindh, have successfully completed the Strengthening Resilience of Agro-Pastoralists in Sindh (SRAS) project.
The four-year, EUR 3 million initiative has enhanced food security and resilience for 48,205 smallholder farming households, benefiting over 200,000 people in Umerkot and Tharparkar.
The project achieved significant milestones, including providing productive subsidies to 14,000 households, vaccinating 705,000 livestock, and training 8,970 farmers through Livestock Farmer and Agro-pastoral Field Schools. Additionally, 10 Producer Marketing Groups were established, and 14,423 hectares of agriculture land and 700 acres of rangeland were restored.
EU Ambassador to Pakistan, Raimundas Karoblis, highlighted the EU’s commitment to supporting climate resilience and rural development in Sindh.
FAO Pakistan’s Officer-in-Charge, James Okoth, praised the strong partnership behind the project, while the Government of Sindh reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the practices introduced through SRAS.
The ceremony featured a video showcasing project achievements, live testimonials, and a photo exhibition, emphasizing the project’s impact on community transformations and resilient agriculture.
