ATC remands 26 workers of banned religious party in police custody

LAHORE, Nov 27 (APP): An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday reviewed cases against  workers of a banned religious party, involved in arson, rioting and violence against police.
 Police produced 53 workers before the court amid tight security during proceedings.
The court approved physical remand for 26 workers, noting that they had been identified during an identification parade. The judge also ordered the discharge of 10 workers due to lack of sufficient evidence.
In addition, 10 workers were sent to jail for identification parade, while 7 workers were remanded to jail after completion of their earlier physical remand.
The proceedings were conducted by ATC Administrative Judge Manzer Ali Gill, who was informed that cases were registered against the suspects in various police stations and were facing charges of arson and assault on law enforcement personnel during recent protest.
