LAHORE, Nov 27 (APP): A visually impaired citizen set a remarkable example of humanity by donating blood through the Safe Cities Virtual Blood Bank when an infant at Lahore Children’s Hospital urgently required O-negative blood.
According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), the Virtual Blood Bank team immediately acted upon a call received on Emergency Helpline 15. The team contacted a registered blind donor from its database and connected him with the child’s family without delay.
The visually impaired donor, Shoaib Ahmad, donated blood and helped save the child’s life. In recognition of his gesture, Safe Cities Authority appointed Shoaib Ahmad as a brand ambassador for the Virtual Blood Bank and also awarded him a cash prize.
Shoaib Ahmad, who belongs to an economically disadvantaged family, said that donating blood is an act of humanity.
The spokesperson added that the PSCA Virtual Blood Bank provides round-the-clock service across Punjab. He urged citizens to donate blood and play their part in saving precious lives.
