Balochistan govt to provide international-standard training for young engineers

QUETTA, Nov 27 (APP): Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to review an ambitious plan aimed at providing world-class, structured, and professional training to the province’s young engineers.

During the meeting, Chairman Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), Engineer Waseem Nazir briefed the chief minister on various components of the Technical Human Development Program.

During the meeting, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Balochistan government and the Pakistan Engineering Council.

Additional Chief Secretary (Development & Planning) Zahid Saleem signed the MoU on behalf of the provincial government, while PEC Chairman Engineer Waseem Nazir represented the Council.

According to the briefing, under the Technical Human Development Program, fresh engineering graduates from Balochistan will provided a comprehensive six-month, hands-on training aligned with international standards.

Under the program, each trainee will also receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 50,000. The meeting was informed that the training of the first batch of 300 young engineers will formally commence on January 1, 2026.

Chief Minister Bugti emphasized the urgent need for well-trained engineers equipped with modern skills and professional expertise to strengthen the province’s development infrastructure.

He said that providing young engineers with practical experience and opportunities to demonstrate their capabilities in the public sector remains a top priority of his government.

He added that the Balochistan government is taking every possible step to enhance the professional capacity of young engineers and provide them with strong institutional support.

Reiterating his commitment to merit and transparency, the Chief Minister said that training opportunities will be offered fairly to ensure youth play an active and effective role in the province’s development process.

Chief Minister Bugti noted that the provincial government is implementing integrated measures to align the engineering sector with international standards while promoting human resource development.

He expressed hope that the joint initiative between the Pakistan Engineering Council and the Balochistan government will prove to be a milestone in advancing technical human resource development across the province.
