ISLAMABAD, Nov 27 (APP):State Minister for Interior Senator Talal Chaudhry informed the Senate on Thursday that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) founder is receiving meetings in jail in full accordance with the prison manual.
He said one meeting is granted to the legal team and another to the family, as permitted under the rules.
Responding to a point raised by Senator Faisal Javed during the Senate session, the minister said every jail operates under a set manual, and all prisoners, including the PTI founder, are treated according to the same guidelines. He said there is no deviation from these procedures.
Talal Chaudhry added that the court has placed an oversight mechanism on the PTI founder’s meetings, and jail authorities are bound to follow judicial instructions. He said no official wants to risk their job by violating a court order.
He also briefed the House on the facilities available to the PTI founder inside the jail. According to him, the detained political leader has access to chicken meals, six large barracks, exercise machines, a personal cook, a television and a physiotherapist. He said these facilities are provided within the permissible limits.
He criticised what he described as unnecessary protests by some political activists outside the jail. He said a small group of individuals regularly stage sit-ins and create scenes despite knowing that the detainee is already receiving meetings as per the manual. He further remarked that these groups had also lost the recent by-elections, indicating declining public support.
The minister said the government is ensuring that all prisoners are treated under the same legal framework and that no favour or restriction is imposed beyond what the rules allow. He stated that the PTI founder’s case is being handled with transparency, with courts monitoring the process.
