LAHORE, Nov 27 (APP): The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has accelerated its citywide washing and mechanical sweeping operations to reduce the effects of smog.
According to LWMC sources here on Thursday, the company’s operation teams were active day and night to ensure cleaner air besides controlling dust across the city.
Sources said that the cleaning activities, including road washing and mechanical sweeping, have been intensified on major roads such as Mall Road, Jail Road, Ferozepur Road, Canal Road and Gulberg.
To further reduce dust, regular sprinkling of water was being carried out in areas with a high Air Quality Index (AQI), including Shimla Pahari, Press Club, Egerton Road, Kashmir Roadnand Queen Mary Road, sources added.
Washing operations were also in progress around Azadi Chowk, Data Darbar, Circular Road and the Railway Station, while mechanical sweeping was being conducted along Pine Avenue, Adda Plot, Raiwind Road, and Khayaban-e-Firdousi.
Under the supervision of LWMC Chief Executive Officer Babar Sahib Din, the company had deployed special
night-shift teams to wash roads at the city’s entry and exit points.
Phase-wise scraping and washing activities were also being carried out in all towns of Lahore.
LWMC CEO reaffirmed the company’s commitment to providing a clean and smog-free environment for the citizens of Lahore.
