ISLAMABAD, Nov 27 (APP):The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre in Model Town Humak has emerged as a vital national facility in the fight against drug addiction, providing completely free treatment and long-term support to patients from across the country.
In an exclusive interview with APP, Colonel Malik Ayub Awan, Administrator of the ANF Rehabilitation Centre, said the facility is currently treating 40 patients enrolled in a structured two-month programme based on modern therapeutic techniques.
Only Pakistani citizens aged 18 to 48 are eligible for admission, he added.
Before beginning treatment, each patient undergoes a complete medical assessment, including a dope test, PCR, X-ray and blood analysis. The centre is staffed round the clock by qualified MBBS doctors, psychologists and trained medical personnel.
Established in 2005, the centre has so far rehabilitated more than 11,000 individuals who have successfully reintegrated into society.
Following the 60-day treatment cycle, patients are tracked for up to two years under a post-treatment follow-up system, significantly enhancing recovery and relapse prevention.
The ANF facility caters to individuals addicted to all forms of narcotics and has treated people from diverse professions, including law enforcement personnel, doctors, lawyers, journalists, athletes and labourers.
Colonel Awan said the centre is fully funded by the ANF, enabling patients to receive free treatment, accommodation, meals and rehabilitation services.
He announced that construction of a new building in Model Town Humak has been completed, and the centre will soon be shifted there. The upgraded facility will accommodate up to 100 patients, including dedicated capacity for 60 men and 40 women and children.
He noted that federal ministers, senior military leaders, sports personalities and social welfare organisations regularly visit the centre to motivate patients.
The facility also receives support from internationally recognised psychologists, including UK-based Dr Ghazanfar, who travels twice a year at his own expense to train staff and examine patients.
Colonel Awan reaffirmed the ANF’s commitment to realising the vision of “One Nation, One Goal, A Drug-Free Pakistan.” He urged the public to report drug-related activity or seek assistance for addicts by calling the ANF helpline at 1415, assuring that all information would be kept strictly confidential.
