PESHAWAR, Nov 27 (APP):The Sui Northern Gas Company (SNGPL) here on Thursday started limited gas supply through an alternate pipeline after the main transmission line exploded at Peshawar.
According to Deputy Commissioner Sanaullah, the 24-inch pipeline is the primary source for supplying gas to Peshawar, Mardan, and Swat.
Sui Northern has started supply through an alternate 16-inch line; however, due to the limited capacity of the alternate line, there will be a reduction in gas supply.
The action was taken after a gas pipeline explosion occurred in Hassan Khel, affecting gas supply to various cities.
The DC said that domestic consumers will be supplied gas from 5 am to 9 am and from 11 am to 2 pm, while CNG stations will remain temporarily closed.
On the other hand, Sui Northern’s GM, Waqas Shinwari, said that the pipeline explosion is most likely an act of terrorism, as leakage alone does not cause a pipeline to ignite.
The gas pipeline explosion occurred last night in Hassan Khel, which disrupted gas supply to several cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
