RAWALPINDI, Nov 26 (APP):A District and Sessions Court on Wednesday sentenced a man to death and imposed an additional 11 years’ imprisonment for murdering a woman and injuring another in a firing incident.
According to a police spokesman, the prosecutors told the court that the accused, Muhammad Ashfaq, opened fire on two women over an old enmity, killing one and seriously injuring the other. The case was registered at Kalar Syedan Police Station in April 2023.
After hearing evidence from both the prosecution and defense, the Judge awarded the death penalty along with Rs500,000 in compensation to be paid to the heirs of the deceased.
In separate counts, the court also handed down 10 years’ imprisonment and a Rs200,000 fine under Section 449 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), one year’s imprisonment and a Rs 50,000 fine under Section 354 of the PPC, and a Rs20,000 penalty for causing damage.
