ISLAMABAD, Nov 26 (APP): The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) on Wednesday signed an agreement to introduce the Civil Registration Management System (CRMS) Mobile Application, marking a major advancement in the digital transformation of municipal services in the capital.
The signing ceremony, held at the MCI headquarters, formalized cooperation between the two institutions to enable citizens to apply for and obtain birth and death certificates online, without the need to visit municipal offices.
The agreement was endorsed by Dr. Anam Fatima, Chief Officer MCI, and Syed Gohar Abbas Jaffery, Director General NADRA.
According to officials, the mobile application will offer a user-friendly interface allowing residents to submit applications, upload supporting documents, track the status of their requests in real time, and receive certificates digitally.
The system will be backed by NADRA’s secure verification infrastructure to ensure data integrity, authentication, and smooth processing.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Anam Fatima said the initiative reflects MCI’s commitment to modern, citizen-centric service delivery. “This digital platform will reduce public inconvenience, streamline procedures, and enhance transparency across municipal services,” she noted.
NADRA’s Director General Syed Gohar Abbas Jaffery reaffirmed the authority’s support for secure data integration and technical facilitation.
He said the collaboration aligns with national efforts aimed at expanding e-governance and improving public access to essential civic documentation.
Officials from both organizations described the partnership as a significant step towards creating a “smart and digitally empowered Islamabad,” where vital records and municipal services can be accessed conveniently from home.
